The event will be from 8:00 AM until about 11:00 AM. We still need to determine the meeting location and will post an update when it is confirmed. Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety...and enjoy some breakfast on
us!
Please note that registration/RSVP is important so that we
know what kind and how many supplies and refreshments to bring and set up. This is especially true if you are bringing a larger group.
Volunteer Instructions:
1. Bring along your family and friends! It's going to be a really fun and great day! The more junk we find the more rewarding the experience!
2. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing you don't mind getting dirty! Please dress for the weather and in layers since you will get warm while cleaning.
4. We will provide garbage bags, work gloves, tools,
sunscreen, bug spray, breakfast, and water for volunteers.
So come on out! We look forward to restoring this small piece of the watershed with you!
Please contact Jens Riedel at jens.riedel@cjstreamteam.org or 908 240-1346 if you have questions or if you plan on bringing a larger group.
The event begins at 8:00 AM at the pavillion at Riverside Park on River Road in Piscataway (use 430 River Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 as the closest address and
look for the CJST truck and trailer). Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety. Piscataway had graciously offered to provide breakfast and lunch and other supplies for
the volunteers!
From the parking area, we will shuttle to the launch point at the Queen's Bridge in Bound Brook. Life vests will be provided but the water depth is fairly shallow most of the way. There are areas in this section where the rocks can get very slick so wear footwear that has some tread left. If you do not feel comfortable in the river or don't want to get wet, we recommend staying with our land team which will be cleaning Riverside Park and surrounding public lands.
Higher or cloudy water will probably cancel the water portion of the event but we will still try to do the land cleanup unless the weather really isn't cooperating. We will try to keep everyone posted.
Please note that registration/RSVP is important so that we know what kind and how many supplies and refreshments to bring and set up. This is especially true if you are bringing a larger
group.
Volunteer Instructions:
1. Bring along your family and friends! It's going to be a really fun and great day! The more junk we find the more rewarding the experience!
2. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing you don't mind getting wet or dirty! For those in the river, you will get wet! We need the space in the canoes for trash! If you are staying on
land, we also recommend sturdy footwear, clothes you don't mind getting dirty and long pants if you are venturing go into the woody areas.
3. If you have your own canoe and don't mind using it for trash, please let us know when you RSVP.
4. We will provide garbage bags, work gloves, tools, sunscreen, bug spray, life vests, breakfast, lunch, and water for volunteers.
So come on out! We look forward to restoring this small piece of the wathershed with you!
Please contact Jens Riedel at jens.riedel@cjstreamteam.org or 908 240-1346 if you have questions or if you plan on bringing a larger group.
**Due to the rain today (Friday) we will be doing a land cleanup instead at the same location**
Please join CJST for our next cleanup on the main stem of the Raritan River in Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Raritan! This will be an in-river event from Robert Street in Bridgewater to
Orlando Park in Raritan Borough. We have done this section before but a former junk yard and two dam removal sites make this a section that keeps revealing new junk. We'll be removing
some car parts, the usual floatable trash and, of course, tires!
The event begins at 8:00 AM at the Orlando Park parking area on Orlando Drive in Raritan Borough (use 67 Orlando Drive, Raritan, NJ 08869 as the closest address and
look for the CJST truck and trailer). Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety...and enjoy some breakfast on us!
From the parking area, we will shuttle to the launch point at Robert Street. We will then clean up around the island there and then walk downstream. Please note that due to thick vegetation, there will not be a land cleanup this time. Life vests will be provided, but if you do not feel comfortable in the river or don't want to get wet, this is not the cleanup for you. The water depth is fairly shallow most of the way. There are areas in this section where the rocks can get very slick so wear footwear that has some tread left.
Since we will be in the river, higher or cloudy water will probably cancel the event. We will try to keep everyone posted.

Please join CJST for our next cleanup on the South Branch of the Raritan River in Hillsborough and Branchburg! This will be an in-river event from Studdiford Drive to Old York Road, a
section that we've done before but still needs work!
The event begins at 8:00 AM (note earlier time) at the parking area along Old York Road where the bridge crosses the North Branch (use 529 Old York Road, Branchburg, NJ
08876 as the closest address and look for the CJST truck and trailer). Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety...and enjoy some breakfast on us!
From the parking area, we will shuttle to the launch point at Studdiford Drive. We will then clean up around the islands there and then walk downstream. Please note that due to thick vegetation, there will not be a land cleanup this time. Life vests will be provided, but if you do not feel comfortable in the river or don't want to get wet, this is not the cleanup for you. The water depth is fairly shallow most of the way but there is a deep section closer to the takeout spot.
Since we will be in the river, higher or cloudy water will probably cancel the event. We will try to keep everyone posted.
Please note that registration/RSVP is important so that we know what kind and how many supplies and refreshments to bring and set up. This is especially true if you are bringing a larger

Please join CJST for our next cleanup between the Raritan River and the Delaware & Raritan Canal in South Bound Brook. This floodplain downstream of the
Queen's Bridge between the river and the canal was used as a dump in the 1960s so there are a lot of old appliances and tires along with the usual trash that gets washed in during floods. This
area is part of the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park and we will be partnering with the NJ Park Service who will dispose of the trash we collect. Lots to do at this
site!
The event begins at 9:00 AM at the parking area at Canal Park by Lock 11 (use 169 Canal Road, South Bound Brook, NJ 08880 as the closest address and look for the CJST truck
and trailer). This park is across from the South Bound Brook post office. Additional parking is available along Canal Road. Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions
and safety...and enjoy some breakfast on us!
From the parking area, we will have to walk about half a mile to the cleanup spot. Unfortunately there is no closer parking and access to the canal path will be limited. It's a good warm-up!
2. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing you don't mind getting dirty! And dress for the weather!
3. We would like to have a few canoes in the canal. If you have your own canoe and would like to clean in the canal, please let us know when you RSVP.
We will provide garbage bags, work gloves, tools, breakfast, and water for volunteers.
So come on out! We look forward to restoring this small piece of the wathershed with you!

Please join CJST for an Earth Day cleanup in Mountainview Park and the area surrounding Middlesex High School. This forested floodplain is where the Bound Brook and Green
Brook meet and it accumulates a lot of "floatables" as these streams pass through more developed parts of the region. We will be partnering with the Borough of Middlesex who helped us last
year on a section further downstream. Lots of litter, tires and other junk!
The event begins at 9:00 AM at the large parking area next to the basketball and tennis courts in Mountainview Park (use 300 John F. Kennedy Drive, Middlesex, NJ 08846 (Middlesex High
School) as the closest address and look for the CJST truck and trailer). Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety...and enjoy some breakfast provided by
Middlesex Borough!
The driveway into the park is actually Van Ness Drive and can be a bit tricky. If you are coming from the west, Van Ness will be just before the light at JFK Drive. If you are coming
from the east, it will be just past the light. If you do turn onto JFK Drive at the light, no worries, this will take you past the high school entrance. Bear left after the school
building and turn right onto Van Ness Drive. The large parking area by the ball courts will come up on the left.
2. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing you don't mind getting dirty! And dress for the weather!
3. If you have waders and don't mind getting in the stream, please bring them. The water is generally shallow but depth can vary. If we can't go in the water, we'll do
some "fishing" for a few tires and other items.
We will provide garbage bags, work gloves, tools, breakfast, and water for volunteers.
So come on out! We look forward to restoring this small piece of the wathershed with you!
Please contact Jens Riedel at jens.riedel@cjstreamteam.org or 908 240-1346 if you have questions or if you plan on bringing a larger group.
Please join CJST for a cleanup along the Delaware & Raritan Canal and the Millstone River in Griggstown for our first cleanup of 2017! We'll be partnering with Anna Marshall, the
Americorps Watershed Ambassador for this area, who organized this cleanup. We'll be working along the canal and in the wide floodplain between the canal and river. Lots of litter and a
few tires and other junk sprinkled here and there.
The event begins at 9:00 AM at the large parking area along the Griggstown Causeway closer to the canal bridge (use 6 Griggstown Causeway, Belle Mead, NJ 08502 as the closest address and look for the
CJST truck). Overflow parking can be found at the parking area next to the Millstone River bridge. Come on out and join us for sign up, instructions and safety...and enjoy some breakfast on
us.
Please note that registration/RSVP is important so that we know what kind and how many supplies and refreshments to bring and set up.
Volunteer Instructions:
1. Bring along your family and friends! It's going to be a really fun and great day! The more junk we find the more rewarding the experience!
2. Wear sturdy footwear and clothing you don't mind getting dirty! And dress for the weather!
We will provide the rest! Garbage bags, work gloves, tools, breakfast, and water for volunteers.
So come on out! We look forward to restoring this small piece of the wathershed with you!
